Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): what and how much oil to use, sae 30, station location

Question
I bought a Murray 22" 6.5 hp some years back. I'm in the military so it has had lots of use.. and I've never had a problem. Well as always I had to move and landed at an apartment, needless to say i had to drain all fluids from it for them to transport. It has sat in the garage for around 3 years. I'm now in a new location with a yard. I don't want to mess it up and have no idea how to prep it.. so what kind of oil and how much do i use. Also does the gas matter? 87 or 92?

Answer
Still in the military myself.  Oil, start with 16 oz of SAE-30...Wal-Mart brand is fine.

As for gas, the manual recommends 87 oct.  My current duty station location doesn'e even offer 92 oct.  Most will recommend the 92 oct since the mower sips gas.

Start with 16 oz of oil, check to make sure it is enough.  Almost all Briggs engine call for 20 oz but it is next to impossible to get all the oil out so that is why we start with 16 oz.

Since the mower has sat some of the carb gaskets may have dried up.  Fill with gas and oil and see if it starts.
