Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Quieter Honda, chevy sprint, bolt flange

Question
Hello John,
This is Randy with the two Honda 6.5 horse engines on my gold dredge.  I had asked for your advise on how to quiet those bad boys down without loosing any power, and you replied inquireing on the model number.  They appear to be the GX200-QX with the square style muffler.

I thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Randy:

These Engines have Only 1 Muffler Listed for them. The Square Type as you have Stated that is on them now. You can McGuiver a Muffler by Using the Bolt Flange and Nipple from the Square Muffler and Bushing Up to a Small Automotive Muffler. I Did this on a Coleman Gemerator. I Adapted Up to a Muffler for a 1987 Chevy Sprint. It Runs Whisper Quiet now. I Used a Few 90 Degree Ls and McGuivered it so it is Strapped to the Outside of the Generator Frame. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
