Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): carb probs?, mtd snowblower, spec numbers

Question
i have a mtd snowblower and i run it pretty hard here in northern indiana but it seems the last couple times i ran it starts to throw small flames out of the exhaust, before i check to see if maybe the valves are dirty do you think maybe i should just check the carb bowl to see if it just needs to be cleaned, thanks john

Answer
Hello John:

If this is a OHV Engine, then Check the Valve Clearance First. The OHV Engines have a Problem with the Valve Clearance Not Remaining at Specifications. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
