Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine swap, briggs and stratton, application engine

Question
I have a 8hp Mastercraft snowblower. Motor is a briggs and stratton 78072512, model 190412 (0591 01 or 0991 01). Bought new in 1978. Is there a new motor I could just unbolt old and replace with new without modification.

Answer
Hello Mike:

This is Considered a Special Application Engine by Briggs. Briggs List No Replacement for this Engine. However, you can Check for and Match a Replacement Engine at this PDF Site Addy; http://www4.briggsandstratton.com/miscpdfs/RNT/2007%20Replacement%20Engine% 20Specifications/WholeMS5568LowRes.pdf. Use the Specifications from the PDF Site Addy to Match a Newer Engine to your Unit. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
