Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): homelite gas chain saw model 330, good shape, fuel lines

Question
This chain saw was not used for sometime, now, it can not be started. It is hard to pull the string to start. Please help.

Answer
Remove the spark plug and pull the string.  If it is stll hard to pull, take the saw all apart and see if any external parts are binding.

If you can't find any external parts casueing the string to pull hard, use a flashlight and look inside the cylinder via the exhaust and intake port.  The cylinder should appear smooth and shiny.

If the saw has sat for a while odds are the carburetor and fuel lines are hard and brittle.  The carb may need rebuilding and the lines replaced.

330's were good saws but I would not recommend spending more than $100.00 on the trying to get it running.  Is the bar, sprocket and chain in good shape?
Let me know.
