Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): No Spark, briggs stratton, point gap

Question
Hi,  I have a Briggs & Stratton model 19, type 706047, s/n 639841, it doesn't have any spark. I've checked the point gap, I replaced the coil (new one p/n 290880) and still no spark. I would appreciate it if you could help.
Thanks,  Ken

Answer
Hello Ken:

Briggs Engine Model Numbers are 4 or 5 Digits. Stamped Into the Blower Housing Above the Spark Plug is the Model, Type and Code Numbers. Send me these, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. However, Does this Engine have a Point Set Under the Flywheel? How Many Wires are Coming Out from Under the Flywheel? Disconnect the Shut Off Wire from the Coil. Now Check for Fire. If the Coil Shut Off Lug is Not Grounded and the Coil Does Not Fire the Plug, then 1- the Coil is Bad (if this engine has no point set) or 2- the Point Set is Bad and Requires Replacing. If the Coil Fires the Plug with the Coil Shut OffWire Disconnected, then there is a Problem with the Shut Off Wire or the Shut Off Switch. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
