Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wiring problem, briggs and stratton, hp engine

I removed a 12.5 hp engine from a snapper LT125 lawn tractor and am putting it on my log splitter but I cannot figure out the wiring. I have looked a a wiring diagram but it doesnt seem to help. Model # 404437 Type 0110-01 code 85112512 Briggs And Stratton If you could help me out with this wiring problem it would be appriciated also is the wire on the started positive or negative. Thanks

What is that you need to know? The starter has a positive connection. You need to know what type of alternator you have  and you need to look at both engine wiring diagrams to see how they are connected.

There are 3 different types of alternators.

Stator, Alternator (Tri Circuit, 9Amp Regulated)

Stator, Alternator (Dual-Circuit)

Stator, Alternator 10, 13, or 16 Amp-Depending on Size of Flywheel Magnets) (Regulated)
