Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine will not shut off, briggs and stratton, carbarator

Question
i have a 20hp briggs and stratton vanguard engine.my problem is after i start the engine and when i go to shut it down it stays running at full speed.i am not sure if i have my wires coming from the ignition hooked up correctly.is ther any way you could tell me what wire goes to what and the location of the area it goes to.i hooked up a new solnoid and i think this is how the wiring got messed up.note:there is'nt a shut off wire at the carbarator.and also when i do try to shut off the engine other accesories will shut off like the cat pump that is hooked up to it.the engine is used for pressure washing.if you can help me ,i would really be thankful.

Check out the following site:

How many small posts are on the solenoid.  If the engine will not shut-off, check the key switch, identify which pin is used to shut-off the engine.  Follow the wire from the key switch to the ignition coil under the engine sheet metal cover.
Let me know if the wiring is connected.  Do you have a multimeter?
