Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens sno blower, ariens snow blower, shaft diameter

I have an old Ariens snow blower with a tecumseh 7 hp engine. I just split the crank today. My question is are all the replacement engines the same as far as shaft diameter and length in the same h.p category. I hate to get rid of this unit as its serviced me well for 30 years and was leaning to a honda replacement engine

Not Always. You are Better Off Checking the Crankshaft Length, Diameter and Keyway. Some Use a Square Key, Some a Half Moon (woodruff key) and Some have a Tapered Shaft. They All can be the Same HP Category. Honda Does have a Replacement Engine that will Replace the Tecumseh, but I Do Not have a Cross Reference for Doing this Conversion.
