Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Generator with a Briggs engine, briggs stratton generator, briggs stratton

Question
I purchased a Briggs & Stratton generator 2 years and 3 months ago...so guarantee is expired, argh!!!
model: 030203
watts: 5500
HP: 10
Engine: family 5BSXS.3422HT
Long UPC on engine: 050503YE30365

Since I purchased it, I used it twice for one hour each time and I run it 10-15 minutes every 3 months. Last week, during a power failure, my wife started it easily, on first try. It ran for 90 to 120 minutes then stopped all by itself. She tried starting it and no response. Since then I have tried several times and no response. My wife says that the generator may have been running a little off level (because of the snow). Thinking it was the "low oil shutoff" I checked the oil level, it was OK but to be safe I added about 2 tablespoons and it overflowed. I took out the spark plug, fit it in wire and pulled the string but no spark?!?
My questions...
1-Would the "low oil shutoff" mechanism prevent the spark plug from working (sparking)?
2-Can I bypass the "low oil shutoff" mechanism to try and start the generator and at the same time test this mechanism?
3-If the "low oil shutoff" mechanism stops the engine, does it reset itself if it detects enough oil?
4-Do you have any other ideas why it would stop for no apparent reason?

I thank you for your time and help.

Robert

Answer
Hello Robert:

Disconnect the Low Oil Shut Off Wire and Check for Spark. The Low Oil Shut Off Will Reset when Oil is Detected. The Shut Off Grounds the Magnetron (Solid State Ign) Coil and Prevents the Plug from Firing. Briggs Offers No Online Breakdown for this Engine. You can Purchase a Service Manual for this Engine if One is Required. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
