Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh flywheel, game purchase, back fire

Question
John,
I have a tecumseh HH70 off an Ariens tiller. The flywheel had two magnets loose, as well asseveral steel plates loose from the magnets. There are 6 magnets, but only enough plates for 4 (2 each magnet) Am I missing some? Are they only placed on 4 magnets in sequence?
Also how can I adjust/set/ or check the gap with the magnets and coil on the inside of the flywheel?

Answer
Hello Scott:

Stop while you are Ahead of the Game. Purchase a New Flywheel. There are 3 lywheels Listed for this Model Engine. Tec PN 611042 is for the Engine with the Point Set Under the Flywheel. Tec PN 611085 is for the Engine with Solid State Ig Coil. Tec PN 30811A is for the Engine with the 110 - 120 Volt Starter. Trying to Get the Magnets Back to their Original Positions is a Pain and Most Times Does Not Work. The Engine Runs Erratic, Lopes, Hard to Start, Power Loss, Back Fire and Ect. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
