Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): noisy honda gc160 engine, honda gc160, stock muffler

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I just bought a pramac es2800 generator that has a honda gc160 engine. I find this engine to be very noisy. Do you know of a muffler that could be built or bought that would be much quieter than the stock muffler?

Thank you,

Mark Robbins

ANSWER: Hello Arnie:

I have Several Generators and One of Wich is a Honda. It is Quieter than the Other Generators. I Suggest you Contact your Local Honda Dealer and Explain the Problem. The Muffler May be Bad or you May have Another Problem. Most Honda Generator are Usually a Fairly Quiet Running Generators than Other on the Market. However, there are Several Mufflers that can be Adapted to this Engine to Quiet the Noise. Send me the Service Code Number (looks like this example; PF5325YA001), Please. With these Numbers I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Again Arnie:

I Located the Breakdowns I Required. Thanks for the Numbers. There are 2 Mufflers Listed for this Engine. One is a Pancake Style and the Other is a Cigar Style. The Cigar Style is the Supposed to be the Quietest and is Listed as Being Installed on your Generator. The Pramac PN is G92070. The Pancake Style is Honda PN 18310-ZL8-010. I Located my Honda Generator and the Cigar Style is on My Engine. It is Not that Loud when Running. I can Carry on a Regular Volume Conversation up to Within 5 Feet of the Generator. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
