Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Homelite 26b Leaf Blower Dies at full throttle, carburetor body, adjustment screws

Question
Hi - I start the leaf blower on full choke, let it run a few minutes, then turn to full throttle - after 1 or 2 minutes it just dies. It is a small 2 stroke engine, I have replaced the spark plug and put new gas in the tank. It just will not stay running. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Answer
Hello Rich:

1- Turn the High Air Mixture Screw Counter Clockwise 1/4 Turn. 2- Make Sure the In Tank Filter is Good. 3- Make Sure the Gas Tank Cap is Venting the Tank. 4- If the Exhaust Port and Muffler are Clear, then  Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I Use Gunk). I have Found that Most People can Use a Breakdown/IPL and Disassemble the Carburetor Enough for Proper Cleaning. You Only have to Remove the Bowl, Float Pin, Float (if Applicable)  and Needle Valve and Any Adjustment Screws that Go Into the Carburetor Body. The Welch Plugs Do Not have to be Removed. Then Soak the Carburetor Body and Parts in a 1 Gallon Can of Gunk Carburetor Cleaner Overnight. The Can has a Parts Tray Inside it for the Small Parts. Once the Carburetor and Parts are in the Cleaner, you can Replace the Lid for Safety and to Prevent Accidental Spillage. Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Parts if Required. You can View a Breakdown of this Equipment at this Site Addy; http://www.homelite.com/ and Select Parts/Service at left, then Select Go to Homelite Parts Store. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
