Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Old Craftsman Engine, exhaust muffler, yetmans

QUESTION: Hello again John,

Before I asked about how to find owners manuals for an engine, but I figured I dont really need it for what I am going to do. But anyways I would like find a little info about it like the Horsepower and what not. Also do you know where I can find an exhaust muffler and the whole airfilter somewhat like this one because it seems to be missing when I got it. Here is a diagram from sears.com.

If you can help me that would awesome. The model number is 143.105040... and this engine is not read on outdoor distributers. This engine came off an old craftsman tiller and my small engines teacher is making me fix it. So far its going pretty good, I am in the process of cleaning it with the solvent.

QUESTION: I guess I really cant figure out how to determine the horespower with that. Do you have a Tecumseh/Craftsman convertion chart to turn 143.105040 into a Tecumseh model number. If you could that would be very helpful. Oh I am very sorry for asking so many questions.

Hello Again Jake:

I have Sent a Request to my Contact at Tecumseh Power and they will be Back to me on Monday 1/26/07 with the HP for this Engine. He had Said the HP should be a 3.0HP, but he wants to Check and be Sure. My Cross Reference Goes Back to the 143.200000 Models and Up I have No Listing for the 143.100000 Models.
