Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD L120 rider mower drive belt replacement, mower deck, mechanical skills

Question
My mower deck belt just broke at 65 hrs / 3 years. I was wondering if that means my drive belt will be following? Would it be worth changing it as a pre-emptive measure? Also, is this something someone with moderate mechanical skills can do? Thanks much.

Answer
Hello Tony:

The Drive Belt Does Not Take the Abuse the Deck Belt Does. Usually you will Replace the Deck Belt 3 Times to 1 Time for the Drive Belt Provided the Drive System is Operating Properly. Look at the Breakdown of the Mower Deck and you Should be Able to Decide if you Wish to Tackle this Repair. Usually with a Breakdown and Someone to Answer Any Questions you May have; Almost anyone can Change this Belt. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
