Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LawnBoy Carbs, light on the subject, vaccum

Question
I would like to convert my early plastic carb. on my f-141 engined lawnboy mower to the later metal carb. but there is a small 1/16" port on the metal carb. were the carb. mounts to the engine block. My plastic carb. does not have this port. The gasket between the metal carb. and engine also has this small hole at the 12:00 position that my plastic carb. gasket does not. Is this port important? The later F engine with the metal carb. has this small port in the engine block but I don't were it leads to. Does it provide some special vent to the carb. bowl from the crankcase? Any light on the subject would help. Eric

Answer
Hello Eric:

Your Picking my Brain on this One. LOL.  I Believe the Carburetor and Engine you are Asking About is the Model that uses the Vaccum from this 1/16" Port to "Shift" if you Will, from the Idle Jet to the Main Jet During Engine Revving. Without this Port, this Carburetor Will Allow the Engine to Almost Die Out ( and it does quit in some instances) when the Engine Tries to Throttle Up. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
