Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): another follow up for John, small engine mechanic, protrusion

Question
John
I have studied the general assmbly and the powerhead assmblies for my Mac3216 chainsaw. I am concerned that in order to fix the oil leak the engine will have to be diassbled. The drawing are a poor rendition, but I am concerned that I will have to take apart the engine to fix this. It looks like the rotation of the crankshaft has a lobe that allows the pumb assembly to pump oil to the chain. Also the chain on my saw I don't think it hit it as the protrusion coming out that has the brass bushing is not scratched or damaged in any way with the exception of the brass bushing is messed up. I need a saw pretty quick as my lot has a bunch of peacan tress and the limbs are constantly falling off and I need to cut them up so I am debating on whether or not to just buy a new saw. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Answer
Hi Paul:

The Saw Does have to be Disassembled Almost Completely. An Experienced Small Engine Mechanic can Repair the Saw in About 3 Hours if All the Parts are at Hand. In your Case I Suggest you Purchase Another Saw and then Take your Time and Repair this One. I Always Prefer to have a Backup Saw in Case Something Happens as it Did in your Case. Then I can Grab the Backup Saw and Finish the Job and Repair the Broken Saw Later. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
