Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): bolt pattern, horizontal shaft, horizontal shafts

Question
I was wondering if all small engines have a similar bolt pattern and what are the dimensions.  I'm looking at a 16-18 hp horizontal shaft engine for a fan project and need to know what size I need to make my engine mount plate with out it being to small.
Thanks,
Jeff

Answer
Hello Jeff:

The Bolt Pattern will Depend on the Manufacturer and Model of the Horizontal Engine. Select the Engine you are Going to Use for the Project; then Make the Mounting Plate to Match. I have 2 Engines and Both are 18hp Horizontal Shafts. One Base is 4 1/8" X 10 3/4" from Center of Bolt Hole to Center of Bolt Hole. The Other is 4 1/2" X 11 1/4". Hope this Helps.
