Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): onan engine, hi ed, number thanks

Question
QUESTION: I have an older sears mower with a Onan engine.  It would not run without keeping the choke partly on. The engine would also vary rpm without input from operator.  I rebuilt the carb as you suggested to someone else, now the fuel pump won't pump.  Is there a schematic available somewhere for me to verify correct re-assembly?  Thanks, Ed

ANSWER: Hello Ed:

What is the OEM and Model Numbers. With these I May be Able to Locate a Breakdown/IPL for you to View Online. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi John, The numbers are a little messed up but appear to be BF-m162279a for the model and serial is 1072516506 It is on a sears model 917-25750 serial 2353.
I got it running tonight but it seems to do the same. The choke must be almost completely closed or it will stop or the rpm will surge up and down.  I soaked the broken down carb in the cleaner, blew out the passages and re-assembled with the rebuild kit.  Is there a decent manual available and where would I get one.  Thanks in advance, Ed

ANSWER: Hello Again Ed:

There is 1 Digit Missing in the Model Number. Thanks.

QUESTION: Well John the plate is really obscured on that line could the number be BF-ms2379a? I did find a carb schematic and it appears I have the spring and plunger on the wrong side of the  diaphragm. I will reverse this and see what happens this morning. Thanks for the help, Ed

Answer
Hi Ed:

Great!! That is what I Needed the Model Numbers for. I wanted you to have a Breakdown of the Carburetor and Check the Position of the Components of the Pump. The Sears Model Numbers is Missing a Digit. It should have 9 Digits Not 8. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
