Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh 6.0 engine for GoCart, single mom, gocart

Question
I just bought this gocart second hand.  It cranked on the first pull for about a week.  Then it wouldn't idle and if it did, when we hit the gas, it would flood and die.

I replaced a float that wasn't floating. You could hear liquid in it.  Put a new one on, adjusted the idle since it was a bit high and would move forward a bit...not good.

It has worked flawlessly for another week and today while my son was riding, it just quit.  I did manage to crank it, but it won't idle more than a few seconds and if you hit the gas, it floods and dies.

Single mom, need advice, know just a little about small engines, what should I do next, in words a woman understands?    Thanks so much!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm "in words a woman understands" Woman are hard to figure out but I will give it my best.
What the float Does is allow fuel to enter The Carburetor if it is idling just a small amount of fuel is needed to keep it running. So now when you start to increase the throttle you are demanding more fuel. What is happening not enough fuel is getting to the carb so you will have to rebuild the carb or buy a new one to replace the one you have.
