Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Murray Lawn Tractor 46901x92A, murray lawn tractor, transaxel

Question
John - I wave a 1996 Murray Lawn Tractor. Engine starts and runs well except for the throttle does not have much variance between low or high throttle. Closer to high throttle most of the time. The blades start and run well. My problem has to do with the hydrostatic drive. I have downloaded the .pdf schematic and have taken it to two Murray dealers with the following question. When I move the pedal forward or back it moves the rod controlling the the linkage and the linkage moves to the transaxel as required. I noticed a broken spring and purchased a new one part # 165X101 (part 37 on the schematic) but no one can tell me where it attaches. When I move the pedal forward or reverse, there is nothing that engages the pulley to put pressure on the drive belt therefore no forward or reverse motion. How can I find out where part # 30 attaches? I am at the point of trying to find a similar mower on the side of the road and look underneath ? I also think I may be missing part # 26 (another spring). I cannot figure out how the pulley shifts to the right to engage the belt. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hello Don:

The Breakdown #37 Spring Attaches to Breakdown #49 and #33. The Breakdown #30 Spring Attaches to Breakdown #43 and #21. The Breakdown #26 Spring Attaches to Breakdown #32 and 25 I Think. I know #26 Attaches to #32, but Can Not Remember where the Other End Attached for Sure. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
