Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): frozen motor?, home remedy, repair person

Question
Hello, we have a John Deere 68 rider; used it for the first time in a couple of years yesterday and ran good; tried to start it today and engine won't budge. Was low on motor oil. Is there a "home remedy" I can try to loosen the engine before spending big bucks with a repair person? Thank you,
Margie

Answer
Hello Margie:

Remove the Spark Plug and Try to Turn the Engine. What Happens? Does the Engine Turn? Is the Starter Engaging the Flywheel and Attempting to Turn the Engine? Usually if an Engine has Seized from Lack of Oil, the Engine is No Longer Any Good. I have Tried Several "Home Remedies" and have Yet to Find Any that Assist in Correcting the Problem. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
