Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LT1000, craftsman lt1000 riding mower, new tank

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I just had to ask, because I just bought an Craftsman LT1000 riding mower at an auction and my fuel tank is leaking at a seam too.  Any chance this is a manufacturer's defect?  I went back to the archives and noticed that someone last year had the same problem on the same model as well.  Thanks, Alina

ANSWER: Hello Alina:

I have Seen a Lot of Bad Gas Tank Seams but I haven't Seen a Defect/Recall Notice for the Tanks. I Just Checked the Updated Recall List for Sears Mowers and this Model is Not on the List for Any Problems. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Again Alina:

The Cost of a New Tank is $14.99us (part # 109202X). I Suggest you Purchase a New Tank from Sears. The Cost of the Materials to Repair this Tank Cost the Same or a Little More than a New Tank. Outdoor Distributors Sells a Tank for this Mower for #23.69us and is Supposed to be a Better Tank than the Original. Go to this Site Addy, http://www3.sears.com/ and Enter the Model Numbers in the Upper Left Search Box and Click Go. Then Visually Verify the Equipment and Click Continue. From this Page you can View Diagrams or Parts Lists for you Equipment. The Tank is Listed with the Engine File. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
