Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): TORO 6.5 HP Lawn Mower starts and stops, crank case, assembly drawings

Question
Hello, I have a 6.5 HP GTS TORO lawn mower that I had not used for about a year. I am trying to start it now, and it starts and revs to max and turns off immediately as though there is no fuel supply.
I replaced the sparkplugs, cleaned the air filter, still the same problem. I am thiking I need to clean the carburetor, however, I have some gas left in the tank and when I try to open the bottom round carb tank, gas starts to come out. Also, the two nuts that hold one side of the Carb that connets via a metal tube to the crank case is not easily accessible. I have misplaced my manual for this as well.
Does any one have a step by step procedure on how to open the Carb (what spanners or tools I need to have) and how to clean it up?
Also, is there a way to stop the fuel flow from the tank into the carb while cleaning?

Thanks,
Sunny

Answer
Hello Sunny:

Use Vice Grips to Squeeze the Rubber Fuel Line Together to Stop the Gas Flow. The Nuts are Removed with an Open End Wrench and it is a Close Fit. On Some, you can Use a 1/4" Drive Socket and Extension to Remove the Nuts. A Regular Tool Set, Sockets, Combination Wrenches, Hammer (for when you get Frustrated, LOL), Screw Drivers and Pliers. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Start Parts Viewer. Now Enter the Model Numbers. Now Select View Assembly Drawings. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
