Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kohler 210, john deere 210, condensor

i just installed a piston and rings on my john deere 210 with a k241 10 hp kohler engine. now when i start it, it runs for about 5 min. then dies. it will start back up with no problems. any info will help.  thank you.  tom

Did you clean the carb when you did the rebuild?  Does it instantly start back up or do you have to wait awhile?  The only time related component on this engine is the condensor and the coil.  Hopefully you replaced the points and condensor when you did the rebuild.  If not try a condensor first, they are cheap.  If that doesn't fix it you probably need a coil.
