Towing Issues: Towing a 87 Ford Ranger, blueridge ga, towing dolly

Question
Hello,
I am moving from Charleston, SC to Blueridge, GA.  About a 6-7 hour drive.
I have a 24 ft. Uhaul loaded with my house and I have secured a Uhaul towing dolly for a 1987 Ford Ranger, manual trans.
Could you give me some advice on how to load the Ranger safely and tow it safely.
Thanks so much,
Tadd

Answer
best answer I can give is to ask U Haul how they recommend towing the truck...

I would do it this way,  load the truck backwards onto the dolly (rear wheels on the dolly)... Then I would lock the steering straight with the key lock (take out the key). Then run the seatbelt though the steering wheel and lock it to the belt lock. And if you really want to do it better you can use a ratchet strap from the steering wheel to the bottom frame of the seats (yeah all of this is how we do commercial towing)...

Hope it helps. Good luck on the move.
