Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): scotts ignition wiring, correct switch, screw driver

Question
QUESTION: i have a scotts s2046 and bought a replacement ignition switch but the mechanic was afraid to try to wire it. do you have a diagram i could use to wire it myself?

ANSWER: I don't quite understand John Jones.

1. Why do you need to rewire the switch.  A switch from the Deere dealer is part number GY00191, list price is 11.25. And all you do is plug it in.

2.  Why would you take your mower to a mechanis who is afraid to rewire the switch.  If he knows anything about tractor anatomy this is very, very easy.  Did I say very.

3. What makes you think you need a new switch.  If it is because the tractor won't turn over, it is probably not the switch anyway.  We sell about 3 a year at my dealership. None in the shop. Unless someone lost the key and is using a screw driver.

For your final question. The answer is yes you can put in the new switch yourself. If it is the correct switch.  It will be like plugging in a lamp.

QUESTION: sorry for lack of info. the last "mechanic" who installed the lightswitch\push-button that now starts the tractor sliced all the wires of the connector. now all i have is the non-deere replacement switch in which the 5 poles are labeled s,g(ground presumably),m,l,& b. help would be appreciated.

Answer
I haven't forgot about you John.

Deere doesn't have any diagrams that tell me what wire goes on the g,m,l,etc posts.  The only way I can figure this out for you is to see the back of a switch.  Right now there are noneof these units in my shop to compare to.

G is ground,S is starter, M is magneto, B is battery, L is lights and accesories.
