Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MTD Lawnflite 604 Ride On - Stalling when Selecting Reverse, briggs and stratton, question pool

I have a ride on MTD Lawnflite 604 with about a 38" cut and a Briggs and Stratton 14.5 hp engine, but just since yesterday, everytime I select reverse gear, the engine stalls unless I press the clutch back in.  I can drive in Forward, and even lower the cutting deck and cut my grass, but cant reverse.  I don't think my lawnmower can reverse with the cutting deck engaged, but I cant even reverse with the cutting deck dis-engaged now!  Please help!

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Numbers you Provided are the Series Numbers. It Sounds like the Seat Safety or Reverse Safety (if this Model has One) is Bad. The Shifter can Also be Rubbing a Wire and Causing this Problem.
