Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Hydro 165 thottle march, kawasaki fb460v, metal tube

Question
My dad has a JD Hydro 165 riding mower he purchased years ago. The engine is a Kawasaki FB460V 12.5 horsepower.  After starting and mowing for 20 minutes or so it starts a throttle march and eventually dies completely.  It will not restart.  If you let it sit for several hours you can repeat the cycle with the same results.  Start-mow-throttle march-mower dies.  Any thoughts?

Thanks

Answer
You have a clogged fuel pick up tube in the tank.  Pull the fender deck off and blow the garbage out of the pickup tube.  If it's a metal tube throw it away and replace with a new plastic tube from your local dealer.  As you mow the suction from the fuel pump packs the crap into the bend in the tube.  As the mower sits, gravity allows the debris to become less compacted.
