Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs &Strat 21 hp vanguard carb, fuel residue, sea foam

Question
My mower feels like its bogging down. As I am cutting, about 15 seconds its bogs and may send out a little bit of black smoke. Also, after I start it, it seems to run a little better when the choke is pulled out a bit. This is a husquvaria (sp)and is about 2 years old. I also tried a little sea foam in the tank but did little or no good.

Answer
Sounds like you need to clean the carb and change the oil.  Black smoke means to much fuel.  When a carb leaks, fuel dribbles by the valves and into the crankcase.

Clean the carb and change the oil, good things will happen.  Sea foam will remove varnish and stale fuel  residue but it won't get "chunks out of the carb.  Don't be cheap, buy a carb kit. It will be cheap
