Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): homelite trimmer, homelite gas trimmer, redmax

Truthmeister, you have not steered me wrong yet.  I think this is the year of lawn equiptment repair.  This time I have a homelite gas trimmer 25cc engine model ut20785.  It starts great but it will not turn the end of the shaft where the trimming string is.  I took that apart and cleaned all the grass out, but that didnt work.   What could be the problem?

Loosen the clamp at the top and try to push the tube farther into the clutch housing.  If this doesn't work the trimmer is scrap and can be replaced cheaper than buying replacement parts.

Face it Dave this trimmer has been crappy since the day you bought it.  If you have to replace it buy a RedMax or a Shindaiwa.  Thay are both premium brands that are available only through a dealer.  They will start at about 200.00.  If you don't want to spend 200.00 on a trimmer that will last your grandkids the rest of their life, buy the cheapest thing you can find.  All throwaway trimmers are built essentialy the same. 200.00+ or cheapest you can find.  Buy nothing at Sears!
