Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): stx38, fan belt, bottom side

Hello Paul:

Can you describe the best way to change the transmission drive belt on the stx38?  Mine is about to go, big chunks missing, and I can't even begin to figure out the best way to remove and more importantly of course, reinstall the new one! THANK YOU Paul--JD

You are lucky JD.  Your belt is still there.  Pull the deck off and roll under the tractor with your digital camera and take a pick for future referance.  This is really just a matter of removing and replacing parts.  The hardest part will be getting the deck on and off.  Think of it as changing a fan belt on your car.  It really is not any different.  The only thing special about this repair is removing the brake lock lever.  Take the nut off of the bottom side and then remove the lever.
