Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh 3.8, wd 40, little lever

Question
hay jon, i have an old tecumseh 3.8 on a murray, about 10 yrs old, and i took it apart to clean it up and whatnot, then put it back together. well, now its burnin oil. any guesses 2 why that is. also, the throttle isnt seeming 2 work, it was like this before i worked on it, and i noticed that down in the throttle body under the air filter there is a little lever that opens up the choke, and its not working right. i cleaned all around it and put some WD-40 on it and i cant figure out what to do now. pleas help. thanks for your time and expertise. have a good one.
