Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): no spark on tecumseh ohv-175-204803A(riding mower), air gap, pick ups

Question
John, Thank you for replying back.  The mower that I have is a Murray/elite model #42569x4a,  Well I reset the air gap on The solid state module and still no spark. What could causes the solid state module to go bad? Is there a way to test the part?  I don't know.  well John if you have any Ideas I will appreciate it.     Thank You,  Jess

Answer
Hello Again Jessie:

Did you Remove the Small Shut Off Wire from the Coil and Turn the Engine and Check for Spark. The Magneto/Coil has No Power to it, Just the Cut Off Wire and a Ground Wire. If you Remove the Shut Off Wire and the Spark Plug Does No Fire, then the Coil is Bad. If After Removing the Cut Off Wire, you have Fire to the Plug, then a Safety Switch or Bad Wire in the Harness is Grounding the Coil. The Magnets on the Flywheel Pass the Pick Ups on the Magneto/Coil and Create a Current in the Magneto/Coil and the Module in the Coil Open and Closes the Circuit which Fires the Spark Plug. Usually the Internal Module of the Magneto/Coil is what goes Bad. One SIde of the Coil/Magneto is Grounded for the Coil/Magneto to Fire and When the Other Wire is Grounded the Coil/Magneto will Not Fire the Plug. Go to this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Murray) and Enter the Model Numbers (42567X4A). Then Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
