Answer
The engine is starving for fuel.  That is why it runs on choke.  I am assuming you left old gas in it during the off months.  If this is the case the main jet and nozzle have "varnished" from the fuel.

To prevent this in the future always turn the fuel shutoff to "OFF" and run the snowblower until it quits.  This will have removed all the fuel from the carb bowl.

There are three ways to attempt to fix this.

On the bottom of the carb should be a drain, push it drain all the old fuel from the carb and try fresh fuel, this may work, but i doubt it.  When i say fresh fuel, I mean fresh from the fuel pump at the gas station, not from the can that is in your garage.

If this doesn't work the next most cost efficient way is to REPLACE the carb.

You can always attempt to disassemble the carb and clean the main jet and high speed nozzle too, but if this doesn't work your back to replacing the carb.

Hope this helps
