Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens 914 Walk Behind interlock module woes, ford chevy, safety module

Question
I have a Ariens 914019 36" Commercial Walkbehind mower. The engine is a 12.5HP Kohler Command recoil start. The interlock module went out on this unit.

The "module" is a little metal can w/ a 4 wire pigtail that hooks into the harness. It interprets the inputs from the handles, PTO and Transmission switches, and tells the engine to run or not, depending on if the PTO is on or if is in gear. If the PTO is on or the transmission is in gear, you are supposed to have your hands on at least one of the hand grips to keep the engine running. Let go and the engine dies.

Ariens says the original switch is no longer available, and the only replacement is a $100 kit to replace it. I was told is it a new module w/ a adapter harness. They tell me the module itself is available alone, but they will not give me the part #, nor tell me how it is wired so I can figure out if I can make my own adapter harness.

I can't afford to buy this kit. I want to try to make my own module, or adapt another module from another mower to mine. I kept the old pigtail off of the old module, so I can make an adapter if needed.

Answer
Sorry Kevin, you're gonna have to buy the kit.  There might be another module out there but who the hell knows wich one.  It's a Ford - Chevy thing.  Nobody else has the same harness, and a diagram of the module internals is impossible to locate.

Thanks by the way for explaining safety module operation?  If you have to explain that to the other experts,  RUN!!!!!
