Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman riding mower, briggs straton, craftsman riding mower

Question
I have a craftsman riding mower that has developed a problem. The mower is a 19.5 h.p. 2 cylinder briggs & straton with a 42 inch deck with 2 blades & the auto trans. I did general maintenance back in March before I mowed for the first time this season. I replaced all the belts, both blades, the plugs, did an oil & filter change, & replaced the air filter. The mower worked fine until about a month ago. I had mowed most of the yard & the engine started cutting out like it was running out of gas. I stopped it & checked the tank, but it was almost half full. It started back up & I finished mowing without any more trouble. The next time I went to use it, it started just fine & ran great, but when I let out on the brake pedal or try to engage the blades, the engine will bog down & die. If I depress the pedal quickly, it revs back up. I drained the fuel tank & made sure it was clean, I blew out the hoses & fuel filter with an air compressor, I rebuilt the carb with a briggs kit, & I've replaced the ignition module & it still dies. Could it possibly be the kill switch under the seat? I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Thanks for your help.  Larry

Answer
Hello Larry:

Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower and the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manuals and Better Assist you. However, Check the Valve Clearance. If the Valve Clearance Is Not Within Specifications, this will Happen to the Engine. If you Did Not Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner, then the Carburetor can Still be the Cause of this Problem. If the Carburetor has Air Mixture Screws and they are Set Incorrectly, then this will Happen. I can be More Specific with the Model Numbers. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
