Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): yard works model 60-1610-8, gas tank, quick reply

Question
QUESTION: Self propelled mower will start after pushing the 'bulb' to give it some gas, but will not continue running.  If I push the bulb 2x it will run a bit = if i push it 5 times to give it some gas, it will work a little longer, but just enough for the amount of gas I have given it.  It's like it's not getting the gas once it is started.   Help, I can't get it to a repair shop (I'm female and can't get it loaded into my car)

ANSWER: Hello Pat:

From your Description, it Sounds like the Carburetor Needs to be Cleaned. Remove, Disassemble and Soak Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I Use Gunk). Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air and Install a New Kit if Required. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: Thank You for such a quick reply!
I'm not afraid to take things apart & see if I can fix them, Because no gas appears to keep the motor running, I had taken off the round bowl under the 'bulb' to see if gas was going through the line.  There is definitely gas in there as it drained the entire gas tank when I took the bowl off.  It did have some greenish gunk in the bottom of the cup.  I don't mind taking off the carburetor to clean it, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. The gas tank itself did have some debris at the bottom - should I take that off too.  And while I'm at it, can you tell me the exact location of the drain plug on this unit.  My manuals, show different models, and I have looked for the drain plug and can't find it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if there is any diagrams, all the better.

Answer
Hello Pat:

The Problem is the Main Jet is Restricted with Trash or Varnish That Gas will Form Over Time. Briggs Does Not Offer this Model for Online Viewing of the Breakdown/IPL. You can Purchase the Manual you Require from this Site Addy, http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BShopProductListingPage.asp?rsvp=0&PARENTID=0&. You can Try this Engines Carburetor and See if it Looks the Same as Yours. 12A600 @ this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp. One of the Mechanics Says he Had the Same Problem and Referenced Another Engine. He Thinks (note: Thinks!! lol) this was the Engine. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
