BMW Repair: flat spot, jane jane, clutch

I have just purchased a 325i it is a 84 and has 270,000 miles.  When driving  it has a flat spot or seems to cut out.  Any suggestions?  Also is there adjustment on the clutch?

 The flat spot could be a number of things, however I would suggest a tune-up, especially with an engine of that age.  Also, in 1984 there was not a 325i, only 325e or 323i (Europe).  

 I would perform a tune up on the vehicle, and that should help with the flat spots.
