Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens Model 913003, briggs and stratton, good shape

Question
I was just given an Ariens riding mower Model 913003 serial number 000473.  The engine is a Briggs model 191707 type 0658-01 code 73020111 8 hp.  This tractor is in really good shape I think for it's age.  That's the first question, would you know how old it is?  It will start but only run until the primer is gone.  I was trying to find a diagram on the carb to do a rebuild.  Can you help.  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Tim:

If I am Reading the Serial Number and Model Correctly, this was Manufactured in 1973. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Select the File # 19. Then Select the Folder # 191700. You will need to Remove, Disassemble and Soak Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I Use Gunk). Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air and Install a New Kit if Required. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
