Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): oils, synthetic engine oil, tecumse

Question
A friend of mine just got a used tractor with a 20 hp tecumse tvt691.  I am unclear what kind of oil to put in the thing since it has an external filter and I would guess an oil pump. A non-detergent lawn mower oil or something more automotive-like?

in a seperate question, what kind of gasoline should I be using in my small lawn mowers and weed wackers, 2 and 4 cycle.  Most stations are gasohol up to 10%, very few advertise pure gasoline.  It may take 2 months to empty my little red cans.  Will the gasohol help remove moisture like "Heet"?

Thanks,

Jeff

Answer
Hello Jeff:

Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have 2 PDF Site Addys that May Assist and Interest you. They are; 1- http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf and 2- http://www.cpdonline.com/692509.pdf I Use SAE 30 Synthetic Engine Oil in All my 4 Cycle Engines and I Use a 32:1 Ratio Oil Mixture for My 2 Cycle Engines. Like you I have to Use the Gasohol and I Use the Heet to Help Prevent Moisture. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
