Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub Cadet Model 2135 Riding Mower Wont Start, safety switches, select shop

Question
This mower has been great for 6 years. This year it is intermittant in starting. Battery, plug, oil/filter,are new. When it does not start, I have no spark at the plug. (When it does start, it starts right up, just like always). Almost seens like a lock-out saftey device is intermittant. I don't know what would keep it from sparking, while turning over great. Most of the lock-out devices would keep it from even trying to start, but it trys-just no spark! Thanks alot!

Answer
Hello Scotty:

The Most Common Cause for this is the Blade Safety Switch (PTO), Reverse Safety or the Brake/Clutch Safety Switch. If the Safety Switches are Good, then the Ignition Module/Coil May be Going Bad. From your Description, I Think 1 of the Safety Switches is the Cause. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://www.emerichsales.com/home.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Catalog. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Cub Cadet). Then Enter the Model Numbers 2135. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
