Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Battery not charging, regulator rectifier, kohler engines

Question
I have a Toro walk behind with a kohler cv14s motor. The battery will not charge. After frequent starts, a fully charged battery will drain.

Answer
Hello Angelo:

You will Need to Check the Regulator and the Stator. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the OEM (Kohler Engines). Then Select the Command Series. Then Scroll Down to the CV14S and Select it. Then Select your Model from the List Provided. Then Select the Ignition/Electrical. I Used the CV14S-14100 Engine for Reference. Breakdown (diagram) #8 is the Regulator/Rectifier. If the Regulator/Rectifier is Showing No Current, then Disconnect the Regulator/Rectifier from the Stator (Diagram #15) and Check the Voltage from the Stator. If No Voltage from the Stator, Then Replace the Stator. If Voltage From the Stator, then Replace the Regulator/Rectifier. Usually the Cause is the Regulator/Rectifier. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
