Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD LX188 Governor(Kawasaki 17HP), throttle shaft, lx188

Question
QUESTION: I removed the carb & governor ass. After replacement the engine loped wildly. After some adjustment the engine now runs smoothly and idles. I tried to mow and the governor will not add power as needed. How do I correctly adjust the governor?

ANSWER: You need to turn everything to WFO, (wide freakin open).
I mean everything. The throttle shaft, the governor arm and the governor shaft then tighten the lock bolt on the gov arm.
WFO!!!!!!

QUESTION: I adjusted the governor. At least now it idles with no lope. Runs with mower on and drives good. Anything off idle with not much load makes the governor lope-any ideas?

Answer
Loping engine = dirty carb. Every time.
When you replaced the carb did you replace the lines, fuel filter, and clean the tank well.
Start over with these things, reclean the carb and then MOW SAFE!
Remember the carb problems are NEVER caused by the actual carb. The earlier mentioned items caused the carb problem in the first place.
