QUESTION: i changed the belt which turns the transaxle. now whenit is in any forward gear it goes backward. when it is in reverse it goes forward. i am pretty sure the belt is on right. the model no is 917. thanks for helping. gary

The Belt May be on the Idler Wrong. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. They Shoud be Something Like, 917.xxxxxx or 532.xxxxxx Ect. Thanks.

Hello Again Gary:

Thanks for the Information. It's as I Suspected. On this Model Mower, if you Don't Have the Routing on the Pulleys (Diagram #s 50 and 52), the Transaxle Input Pulley will Be Turning Reverse Rotation. Change the Routing on the #50  and 52 Pulleys so the Pulley will Turn the Opposite Direction than it is Turning Now. Go to this Site Addy, http://www3.sears.com/ and Enter the Model Numbers in the Search Box at the Upper Left and Click Go. Then Visually Verify the Equipment and Click Continue. Now you can Select Either View Diagram or View Parts List. This is the Breakdown/Diagram I Used for Reference. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
