Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mower deck belt, model numbers, routings

QUESTION: We have an old Craftsman "Indy 500" Limited Edition 18 HP 6speed, 44" cut lawn tractor with no inst book. Hubby has tried in vain to get a new belt on the mower deck. Tried numerous ways of installing, but there must be a trick we don't know about. Help! he swears Napa sold us the wrong belt(took old one & they matched it). Any help would be greatly appreciated...esp. from wife!

Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. There are Several Different Belt Routings Depending on the Model Numbers. Thanks.

Hello Evy:

No Worries. A Lot of People make that Mistake. That is the Series of the Mower. The Mower Model Numbers Should be Under the Seat on the Body or On the Under Side of the Seat Itself. They will be Something Like: 562.xxxxxx or 543.xxxxxx Ect. These Are the Model Numbers I Require. Thanks.
