Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): chain saw leak, automatic oiler, oil chamber

Question
I have a chainsaw (Poulan 2150, Woodsman, 36cc, 2.1CI, 16” blade).  When running, oil is coming out somewhere under the cover from where the blade comes out, and oozing all over the cover and dripping clumps of oil and sawdust onto the wood being cut beneath, rather than the chain oil coming out via the automatic oiler wherever it properly should to actually oil the chain and blade. I took off the cover expecting to find a clogged filter, but couldn’t find any filter (I never removed the blade and chain, possibly a filter is underneath the blade?) Also looking into the oil chamber fill opening i see a small hose in there, but cant see where it comes out to oil the blade. In the past when I didn’t have chain oil I just used any motor oil I had on hand as chain oil (i.e normally 5-30, but recently 10-40) and it seemed to work fine, however maybe this resulted in the problem, I don’t know.  With the auto oiler not working properly, cutting is very difficult.  Also, the last time I used the saw previously, maybe several months ago, I had left the saw in my shed on the floor, and it was evident that oil had leaked from saw since I put it there. Any advice?

I would check the oiler line that goes to the chain somewhere it may have split due to old age, sawdust or contaminants. The oil tank has a oil pick up tube and it may have a small filter in the tank,to prevent dirt from clogging the line.As far as using 10-40 that is a detergent oil and may act on the rubber parts, I would recommend using bar chain oil it is not that expensive and will save you on repair costs.
