Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs and stratton ignition, briggs and stratton, solenoid coil

Question
I have a briggs and stratton 14.5 hp #287707. I have replaced key switch, solenoid coil and plug and have no fire. wiring was messed up when I got it and not sure if I have correct wires hot. Does the small wire going to the ignition module need to be hot when starting , on accessory or is it a safety wire? I need help!! Thanks

Answer
Hello Sean:

The Ignition Module/Coil Wire is a Ground Wire. Wen the Ignition Switch is in the OFF POSITION the Wire Should be GROUNDED. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. I May be Able to Locate a Breakdown/IPL with an Electrical Diagram for you to View Online. Also, have you checked the Safety Switches? Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
