Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Carb. atmospheric air tube, vent tube, air vent

In side the carburetor on a craftsman 4.5 HP walk behind lawn mower there is the air vent tube, one side is hooked up to the primer does the other end go anywhere or does it just stick out into the air filter? fuel is leaking from this tube, and before I rebuild the carb I wanted to make sure that the tube is hooked up right.

Atmospheric tube? Big words for me. If fuel is leaking out the "vent" you need to rebuild the carb. The vent tube in the carb is an EPA thing. It is attached to nothing. It's a "vent"
Don't skimp on the rebuild. Buy a new needle and seat. It'll cost about 4.00.
