Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Walbro carb, white lawn tractor, briggs and stratton

Question
QUESTION: Hi John,
I'm sorry, it is a LMT 46 Walbro carb. I don't see it listed at the Walbro site. Anyways, I got the fuel inlet valve out and replaced it. Now the engine will run but only on choke, with the throttle control making very little difference. I can't seem to find a hi speed jet on it. There is only an idle control jet which also doesn't seem to do to much at this point (probably because it won't idle yet). I put the new needle valve in, the float is working good, the anti backfire solenoid is working also. The carb is on a Briggs 13hp Model 286777, Type 1142-E1, Code 980911ZD. The motor is on a White Lawn Tractor, Model 13AA672F190, Serial 1I238H10105.
ANSWER: Hello Daniel:

That Carburetor is a Walbro Lawn Mower Carburetor. These Carburetors are Listed with the Engines. I was Thinking you were Working on a Trimmer or Chainsaw. Sorry. Go to this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Select the File #28. Then Select the Folder #286700. The Carburetor is Shown on Page 3 of 17. There is Trash Restricting the Gas Flow Through the Carburetor Jet. Re-Clean the Carburetor. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi John,
I've cleaned the carb three times now and can get it to run on wide open with little or no choke but anything less and I have to choke it still. Here are my questions.
1.  In the carb rebuild kit there were two jets supplied. Neither seem to go to the carb. In the page 3 of 17 at the site you showed me it is part #147. It also shows it in the rebuild kit on the same page, but neither of them show where it goes in the carb. I've looked at this carb for hours now and can't find that piece anywhere.
2. The carb casting has 3 of what I will call "towers" that stick down into the float bowl. The shortest one blocked off with what looks like a metal bead. The second one is where the fuel inlet valve goes (which I've replaced). The third one has a hole in it but when I blow on it, it is plugged. Is that supposed to be open?
3. Is it possible that the carb just has to be replaced?
4. Should I replace the intake gasket where it connects to the head?

Thanks much for your help and support!
Sincerely,
Dan

Answer
Hi Again Dan:

The Towers are as you Described Except for the Last One. It is the Gas Pickup for the Idle Jet. Don't Worry about the Part #147. It is for a Different Walbro Carburetor. The Carburetor Kits Usually cover 3 or 4 Carburetors in 1 Kit. Are you Soaking the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner? Have you Checked the Engine Compression? If the Intake Gasket is Not Ripped or Torn it Should Work Fine. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
